Popular Science has the scoop on a new hybrid retrofit kit out of Tennessee, from a Dr. Charles Perry. The invention involves putting electric motors in each wheel, along with batteries in the trunk, to be able to turn any existing car into a plug-in hybrid.
Dr. Perry recently was awarded $100,000 dollars in grant money to develop his product, which is hoped to go on sale for between $3,000 and $5,000. Palmer Labs LLC is hoping to have the kit on the market within 3 years.
