In a recent posting on the New York Times autoblog, the issue of brake dust was examined as an issue of customer satisfaction. In JDPower customer satisfaction and reliability surveys, one constant issue that kept popping up was excess brake dust. Apparently, drivers were concerned that too much of the powder was a sign of a faulty product. The title of the post, however, assured readers that it was “Not Really a Problem.”
Brake dust is an issue we already wrote about. When washing your own car, brake dust can run off into the local ecosystem. That’s why we always say the less the better- so in this case, excess brake dust really is a problem.
