>It turns out we’re not the only ones advocating the use of professional car washes, or, if all else fails, the waterless kind of car wash. Local and state governments throughout the country are taking various steps to ensure that the waste generated by handwashing a car gets taken care of.

Washington state is banning anything but clean stormwater from entering drains, and Santa Monica, California, is fining homeowners $500 if any dirty runoff leaves their property.

Many local municipalities say they won’t be enforcing the ban, but rather that the focus will be on education.

For those that really care about the Earth and want to stick to the law, however, there are always plenty of products to help them in that goal.
