New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman’s sometimes belligerent tone is frustrating when you don’t agree with him but wonderful when you do. In his most recent column he again makes the point that America needs to be the leader in energy technology, or, E.T. as he calls it – www.nytimes.com. Petroleum is a finite resource controlled mostly by people who don’t like us very much (Iran, Iraq, Venezuela etc.). He also makes the point that by 2050 the world’s population will be 9.2 billion, many more of whom will want to live more like people in Western industrialized countries increasing pressure on the environment and natural resources like petroleum. For these reasons we need to be the leader in E.T. to transform how societies create and use energy. This is also the only way that America will maintain it’s global dominance. Go get ’em Tom. America, F yeah!
