The lineup of trucks from Ram is known for being powerful, capable, and convenient. In fact, MotorTrend has named the Ram 2500/3500 series its 2020 Truck of the Year. The Ram Heavy Duty’s win is the second in as many years for the brand as the Ram 1500 earned the 2019 Truck of the Year title last year. In fact, since becoming a standalone brand a decade ago, Ram Truck has captured MotorTrend’s Truck of the Year title five times: 2010, 2013, 2014, 2019 and 2020.
One of the features found in these trucks that propels them even further ahead of the competition is the RamBox Cargo Management System. As featured on the popular Ram 1500 Big Horn Quad Cab models, this feature is incredibly handy in helping you get everyday jobs and projects done with your Ram truck. Keep reading to learn more.
How Does the RamBox Work?
The RamBox Cargo Management System is a series of features available for the bed of your Ram truck. The most noticeable part of the RamBox system is two weatherproof, lockable, and drainable storage boxes that are built into the bed rails of your truck. In addition to the built-in boxes, this cargo system also includes a 115-volt, 400-watt outlet in the bed of your truck that makes powering up lights and tools a breeze. According to Smyrna Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, the system is also available with a bed divider and bed rail tie-down hooks.
Not like Truck Bed Tool Boxes
Previous to the development of the RamBox system, truck owners would commonly buy truck toolboxes. You’ve seen these before straddling the bed rails of pickups, up against the cab. These toolboxes are handy but are made by third-party manufacturers and need to be bolted to truck beds. They might be handy but they aren’t terribly good looking. They make a work truck look, well, like a work truck.
The RamBox system is different. Built by the factory, they look integrated into the general truck design and they allow owners to use the full length of the truck bed to haul cargo and gear.
Flexibility
The inside of the two RamBoxes is lined with the same type of heavy-duty plastic that is commonly seen in a truck. They are heavy and durable. RamBox compartments are lighted, so you are able to easily see what is inside your vehicle’s boxes. The boxes are easy to drain, meaning you can easily turn one of the RamBoxes into an on-the-go cooler for long days on the job site.
